Queensland Ballet’s contemporary season Bespoke provides a space for artists to collaborate and create dance which challenges traditions and pushes boundaries.
As part of this program Queensland Ballet will also offer dancers, musicians, choreographers and dance enthusiasts opportunities to enrich and extend their experience off-stage to gain invaluable insights from leading Australian artists. With a focus on education and engagement, creative industry students, independent artists and general public will be able to get up close and personal with Queensland Ballet as it creates new art from established and emerging artists and thrills new audiences.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE WORKSHOPS
With Bespoke Choreographer and QB’s Ballet Mistress & Creative Associate, Amy Hollingsworth
Sunday 19 February
Thomas Dixon Centre, West End
Amy Hollingsworth will host a series of contemporary dance workshops focusing on associated techniques and choreographic practises. Open to dancers who are currently training for and envisioning a career as a professional dancer. Content will be challenging and inspiring.
1.30pm – 3pm / 12-14 years / Contemporary dance technique and choreography workshop
3.15pm – 4.45pm / 15-17 years / Contemporary dance technique and choreography workshop
5pm – 6.30pm / 18 years + / Contemporary dance technique and choreography workshop
Youth dancers either training at an elite level or already enjoying a career as a professional dancer will enjoy a focussed session with one of Australia’s most innovative artists.

DIGITAL MATERIAL
A range of digital resources will also become available in March, featuring repertoire footage and interviews with key artistic mentors. These will provide dance students, teachers and dance enthusiasts with insight into the choreographers’ diverse choreographic processes, their thoughts on creative collaboration and reflections on the way they’ve blended elements of ballet and contemporary dance together to create new works.
