Where are the classes held?
Queensland Ballet
34 Beesley Street, West End QLD 4101
Entry is via the main entrance, and the studios are all on ground level for easy accessibility.
What public transport options are available?
Visit translink.com.au for bus, train and ferry timetables and other service information.
Bus
Queensland Ballet is very close to bus stops for the CityGlider (Route 60) and 192 services, which both run along Montague Road.
Train
The South Brisbane Train Station is the closest station, and it located close to the Cultural Centre which is serviced by the bus routes listed above.
Ferry
The CityCat stops at the West End Ferry Terminal, located at the end of Hoogley Street.
Can I park onsite?
Ample, free parking is available at 34 Beesley Street.
Additional street parking is also available.
What should I wear?
Adult Classes
Choose comfortable clothing that you can move in. Ideally, hair should be pulled back out of your face.
We recommend the following footwear:
• Ballet: ballet shoes, jazz shoes or bare feet
• Contemporary: bare feet or dance shoes
• Broadway Jazz: jazz shoes or sneakers/running shoes
• Energy Boosters: Bare feet or socks for Pilates and Barre and Tone
Early Years Dance
Early Years Dancers do not have a set uniform. Our littlest dancers are welcome to come in any attire they choose.
Some participants wear head-to-toe ballet outfits, others wear play clothes. Ballet shoes, sneakers or bare feet are acceptable. Where possible, hair should be pulled back.
What should I bring to class?
For your comfort, bring a hand towel and water bottle. Pilates participants should bring full body towels and mats. A very limited supply of mats are available.
How long do classes go for?
Adult Classes
Classes run for 60 minutes, including warm-up and cool-down. Adult Pointe classes run for 45 minutes and it is recommended participants attend the ballet class prior to warm up for pointe work.
Ballet for Seniors and Dance for Parkinson’s classes are 75 minutes in duration and include light refreshments afterwards.
Early Years Dance
All classes are 30 minutes in duration.
What time should I arrive?
We recommend arriving at least 10-15 minutes before class start time for registration/sign-in. If you are preparing for your first visit, please allow at least 15 minutes as you will be required to complete a participation waiver.
Please wait in the Green Room until your class begins.
Late arrivals will only be admitted up to the first 15 minutes of any class.
What facilities are available at 34 Beesley Street?
We have male and female bathrooms for dance class attendees to change in, as well as shower facilities. Please note the Change Rooms are reserved exclusively for our Company dancers and Academy Students.
No lockers or storage areas are available for dance class attendees.
Queensland Ballet accepts no responsibility for the damage, loss or theft of personal belongings and property. For any lost property enquiries, please contact reception on 07 3013 6666 between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
Do I need any prior dance experience?
Please check the level of the class to determine if you believe you are suited for that class. All participants must be cognitively able to participate independently.
- Foundation: no experience needed for the 8 week introductory courses
- Level 1: a little training is helpful to get the most from our beginner classes
- Level 2: intermediate classes are for those with some dance training or experience
- Level 3: advanced classes are designed for experienced dancers including pre-professional and professional
- Open: all levels are welcome
Can I film or take photos during class?
Photographing or filming all or any part of class with a camera, mobile phone or video camera is prohibited.
Can I view a class before agreeing to register?
For the safety and comfort of all participants, those people who wish to attend a class must participate.
How do I keep up to date with schedule updates and other class changes?
Our monthly Dance Class enews communicates upcoming changes to the class schedule and fee structure, as well as information about new classes, new Teaching Artists and special offers.
Pre-registering for classes online not only ensures you have a place reserved in the studio, but also allows us to contact you in the case of any last minute cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances.
Schedule and fees are subject to change. Classes may be cancelled, suspended or modified due to public holidays, company commitments, availability of teachers and events beyond the company’s control. Amendments will be made available online, at the registration desk and in email news, so please register your email via your online account set-up.
Is there any other information I require before participating?
Please ensure you have read and understood the Dance Class Terms and Conditions. Participation in the classes will be considered acceptance of these terms and conditions, and any ongoing updates to these terms and conditions.
Outside each studio and displayed at reception is a Dance Class etiquette information sheet. If you have any further questions on what your teacher will expect of you during class, please have a quick read through this sheet as you enter the studio.

What is the policy for payment and refunds?
Queensland Ballet accepts payment by cash, EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard or American Express online and in person.
To avoid queues before classes we recommend purchasing online at queenslandballet.com.au/DanceClasses
If purchasing in person the Front of House registrar will take your payment and direct you to your studio.
Concession prices are available upon presentation of a valid card from the following list:
- Full-time student enrolment card
- Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
- Ex-Carer Allowance (Child) Health Care Card
- Foster Child Health Care Card
- Health Care Card
- Low Income Health Care Card
- Pensioner Concession Card
Once paid, fees are final, non-refundable, non-transferable and non-extendable. Queensland Ballet does not replace or refund or take any responsibility for lost or stolen passes.
All class passes have a four month expiry from the date of purchase, excluding the 30 day Membership. The 30 day Membership enables participants to participate in unlimited classes for 30 days from the date of purchase.
Class passes and 30 day Memberships will not be extended beyond their validity. Exceptions may be made in the instance of illness or injury where a valid note from a GP has been provided.
Queensland Ballet will issue a credit refund (to attend another class) under the following circumstances and if the rebooking is made within 24 hours of the following occurring:
- You are not satisfied with a class (if you leave within the first 15 minutes)
- You are ill, injured or need to leave a class due to a personal emergency.
- QB cancelled a class with no prior communication online, in hardcopy or in an email update
- The class was cancelled due to circumstances beyond Queensland Ballet’s control.
