When I watched a live broadcast of American Ballet Theatre’s production of MacMillan’s Romeo & Juliet on TV, I remember thinking that if I could dance this ballet, it would be a dream come true.

Unfortunately I never did have that opportunity, but I am so happy to make our Queensland Ballet dancers’ dreams come true instead.

It’s a story that makes us reflect, and will touch everyone who sees it. With so many conflicts in today’s world, it gives us a valuable lesson. People who see this ballet will never forget it.

Presenting a work of this scale, with acclaimed international guest stars, has been made possible only through the support of the Queensland Government’s Super Star Fund, a collaboration with Birmingham Royal Ballet and the generosity of Lady Deborah MacMillan. Her belief in our Company’s ability to do justice to her late husband’s masterpiece is both humbling and uplifting.
