QB Academy Associate Programs are designed to supplement the work of community dance teachers and offer students the chance to work more closely with Queensland’s State ballet company. The Associate Programs give gifted young dancers the opportunity to further develop their skills by working with their peers under the guidance of the Academy’s world class teachers.

Catering for students between the ages of 10 and 14 years, applicants must be a minimum of 10 years of age and no older than 14 years and 4 months at 1 February 2020 (ie. must not turn 15 years old prior to 1 October 2020).

There are three levels in our Associate Programs and age is only used as a guide when placing students into the most suitable level.  Ongoing assessment throughout the year ensures all students are training in the correct level to gain full benefit from the Program.

A regular Academy Teacher will be assigned to each level of the program.  From time to time, classes may be taught by other members of the Academy or Artistic team.

In addition to the elite training provided, Associate Program students receive other invaluable benefits such as the opportunity to view Company and Academy rehearsals and attend mainstage performances, as well as automatic membership to QB Junior Friends

Entry is by invitation or audition only and online audition applications open mid-year.

QB Academy Guest Associates

To provide access to QBA’s world-class training, the Guest Associate Program has been developed as a unique training opportunity for elite students based outside the Brisbane metro area, (for example, the wider South East Queensland area or Intra/ Interstate or International locations.)

Selected students will be invited to join the classes of QB Academy Associates, as per levels above, during a 3 to 5 day visit each term of the Queensland State school year.

An annual audition is held in Brisbane in November.  It is preferable for applicants to attend in person, although those unable to travel, may request to apply via video.  Please contact us via email for consideration.

Additionally, invitations to join the Guest Associates may be made to students who have expressed their interest in being considered while participating in QBA events throughout the year.
