Thomas Dixon Centre

Our Company’s home since 1991 has been the historic Thomas Dixon Centre in Brisbane’s West End.

The building was first built as a shoe factory in 1908. It was purchased by the Queensland Government and refurbished as a centre for dance and arts in 1991.

Over the last five years, our company’s remarkable growth has meant we’ve outgrown our current facilities. As we enter the next stage of our exciting journey as a global ballet company, we will be undertaking a significant redevelopment of the Thomas Dixon Centre that will see it become a landmark performing arts facility in the Asia Pacific region.

As construction begins in mid-2019 on this legacy infrastructure project, Queensland Ballet will relocate to 34 Beesley St, West End, less than one kilometre from our current site. The Company will relocate to this site from 11 February 2019 until October 2020. This home away from home will allow us to continue our growth and development as a Company, it will enable us to keep delivering our public Dance Classes as per normal and keeps us close to our performance home at QPAC.

We look forward to welcoming our community to our home away from home at 34 Beesley St West End, and eventually opening the doors to our new world-class facility when the Thomas Dixon Centre re-opens in late 2020.
