Queensland Ballet’s Ambassador Program for Practicing Educators (APPE) is a flagship, year-long professional learning and engagement program built on the concept of engaging and inspiring educators regardless of their location, background or teaching area.

Up to eight ambassadors from across Australia will be selected based on their suitability to work alongside the company’s Education team to build close collaborative working relationships and to sustain mutually beneficial outcomes. Teachers from regional Queensland will be given priority and the opportunity to apply for travel subsidy to attend.

During the weeks 3 – 6 April and 4 – 7 Sept 2019,  Ambassadors will be exposed to behind-the-scenes insights, discussions with key Artistic staff, visits to the theatre, meetings with other leading arts practitioners and theorists and access to footage and photography to inspire and educate them about their world class company and the art form. Ambassadors will also collaborate with our Education team to actively contribute to state-wide and nation-wide practices and approaches to learning through developing curriculum relevant lesson plans and digital resources.

Participating in the Ambassador program was an inspiring and invigorating experience. Connecting with the company, viewing performances, watching rehearsals and engaging with like-minded professionals renewed my love for ballet and sparked my passion for quality dance teaching.

My expectations were met and exceeded. I expected to experience life at Queensland Ballet and develop resources - but the level of knowledge attained and the opportunities to talk with Queensland Ballet creatives has just been incredible.
2017 Education Ambassador

I loved being able to discuss and share ideas with other ambassadors about ways in which we could link Queensland Ballet’s resources and programs to our classrooms. The generosity of various Queensland Ballet professionals and their interest in how their knowledge can help us at our school is remarkable.

It was great to develop an understanding of Queensland Ballet’s strategic direction and how they wish to make valued connections with students, teachers and Queensland education in general.  Connecting and learning from the Queensland Ballet staff was extremely valuable and I look forward to implementing my learnings into my own teaching.
